The Standard Separator Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is this year placing two models of their comhination gas engine and separator on the market. One has a capacity of five hundred and fifty pounds, the other eight hundred pounds. Both the separator and the engine are mounted on the same base. The smaller machine is provided with.a" 2% by 24 engine, air cooled, that runs at 1,375 revolutions per minute. The larger machine has an engine with a one-eighth inch larger bore. The floor space occupied by either machine is eighteen inches square and the extreme height to the top of the supply can is thirty-eight inches. The governor auomatically controls the speed of the engine and maintains it for perfect skimming. The engine is self starting and runs very smoothly. The separator itself is equipped with a bowl having special features. For one thing, it has an accelerator in the bottom of the bowl. The milk on leaving the feed rod is set in motion immediately by the accelerator when entering the bowl and an unusual centrifugal force is set up. It is claimed that, owing to this accelerator, only about half of the skimming falls to the discs. There is also a clarifying chamber in the bottom of the bowl which is intended to remove all foreign matter before the milk gets into the discs.
