It seems that neither the broker nor Manager Rasor, of the Magdeburg, knew of the existence of this law, which was passed during the last Texas legislative session (and duly printed in the legislative columns of The Weekly Underwriter at the time). Mr. Rasor has explained the mistake to the Texas department, canceled the policies, and asked to have the license reissued. The New York Nuns publishes the following statement relative to the suits of the Harper heirs against the Mutual Reserve Fund: Before Mr. Harper became president of the company a contract was entered into providing that instead of a stated salary be should receive a certain percentage of the renewals of insurance. After Mr. Harper's death payment under the agreement made with the company stopped.
