About the Book

PEOPLE WITH MONEY THINK THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING. THAT'S WRONG! Smugglers, scammers, swindlers, and scoundrels are victimizing the innocent people of San Francisco. Okay, maybe not all of them are completely innocent, but many of them are. The point is, uncivilized and often illegal behavior is going unpunished. That's where the Lovable Rogue comes in. A dashing and witty amateur sleuth whose help always comes with an unexpected price, he isn't afraid to break a few rules in the pursuit of justice. Set in the 1980s, The Lovable Rogue Mysteries is the first in a series of cozy mysteries with surprising and often humorous endings. In the first mystery, a wannabe mob girl sets up the owner of a pet mortuary to take the fall for a failed drug smuggling scheme. The Lovable Rogue, with the help of his trusty chauffeur, James, saves both the owner and mob girl from the Feds. But, as usual, there's an unexpected price to pay. The Rogue Goes Into a COMA. The Lovable Rogue dabbles in the art world to solve the mystery of stolen sculptures from the museum called the Collection of Modern Art (COMA for short). But that's not the only mystery he solves. The Rogue Saves a Shoe Tree. Dozens of shoe trees are missing from the home of a high-tech entrepreneur. They didn't walk off on their own, did they? The Rogue's Gambit. It's illegal to smuggle Peruvian antiquities out of the country. So, how did one of the Lovable Rogue's friends end up with one? And how will he avoid jail? The Lovable Rogue knows how. The Rogue to the Rescue. The Lovable Rogue always helps a damsel in distress. This time, it's the daughter of a successful businessman who is about to lose her company to an unscrupulous financier. In the end, the mocker is mocked. The Rogue's Quiet Weekend. The Lovable Rogue interrupts his quiet weekend in the country to prevent an elderly couple from being scammed out of their money. The scammer learns a valuable lesson courtesy of the Lovable Rogue. The Rogue Breaks Par. A woman is wrongly accused of stealing antique golf objects from a posh country club. The Lovable Rogue sets things straight with a hole-in-one. The Rogue Meets His Match. A unique twist on the Sherlock Holmes story "A Scandal in Bohemia." The Rogue Makes a Comeback. A seance helps the Lovable Rogue solve the mystery of a stolen antique shotgun. He uncovers a few other things as well. Chocolate Covered Rogue. Have you ever been to a chocolate tasting? The Lovable Rogue has, and he saves a friend from a sweet financial scam. The Rogue Goes to the Dogs. The game is most certainly afoot when the Lovable Rogue uncovers a tale of revenge. The ending is a howler! The Rogue Turns Up the Heat. An elderly, very wealthy man passes away during a cold night. Only the Lovable Rogue sees it for what it is - murder! The Rogue Saves a Tree. The final story sees the Lovable Rogue use all of his skills to halt the deforestation of Mendocino County. All's well that ends well. f you like the humor and charm of the Thursday Murder Club, you'll love The Lovable Rogue Mysteries. "The Lovable Rogue Mysteries is a series of humorous and entertaining short stories that should not be missed." - Eileen Magill, author of "House of Homicide."
