About the Author :
C.Nichole is a singer, songwriter, television producer, non-profit founder, creative group, and publishing house owner. The Reign: Africa is her first children's book, influenced by the need to have more historical books about African ethnic groups for the youth available, especially for children of African descent. She is also the author of American Presidential Parties: Their Relevance to People of African Descent. C.Nichole is a graduate of the University of Houston, having received a BA in Marketing and Minors in Journalism and European Studies, which included studying abroad in Europe and Africa. She cites herself as being a citizen of the world with 90+ countries under her belt before 30 years of age but makes Dallas, Texas, USA, her home base. She is an advocate for Pan Africanism, uniting all people of African descent, as she is the founder of the non-profit, Pan African Think Tank. Review :
"This book is an interesting overview of different tribes in Africa. Each two page spread includes one illustration of a member of the tribe mentioned in traditional costume, and the accompanying text covers topics such as where the tribe lives in modern times, the traditional languages, the activities of both men and women, rituals and customs, and additional information such as community activities, homes, animals that figure largely in the culture, traditional dishes, and an assortment of fun facts. I can't think of any other books that cover such a large range of tribes." - Ms. Yingling Reads "We definitely would recommend the book to everyone: every African so they may have information about themselves and their fellow Africans; those that desire to know about the African continent; and every African child, to broaden their knowledge about their root. Moreover, for those Africans who don't really know much about their root, The Reign: Africa is a call to action for you to learn more about our rich and diverse cultures." - Ka'edi Africa "I highly recommend it to my friends and family and to teachers as well; something to read to the class and help them get a better understanding of Africa. Some of the things this book teaches you, you won't learn in school. It's our job to educate the youth and this book is a great start." - Books With Nitra "I believe these are awakening times for Africans in the diaspora, where there is a renewed and positive emphasis on tracing our roots, learning or re-learning our culture, and feeling empowered in our identities. For those of us who had the privilege of growing up on the continent, the next step we have is passing on our culture and knowledge to our children. So how do we get them to celebrate their diversity and to love and appreciate their roots? You can start a journey with them in this book. It's a colourful and informative way to immerse yourself and your child in the beauty of the people of the African continent." - African in the Diaspora "Honestly, I thought the hope for a Pan African education system is nothing but a pipe dream. Well, there is a myriad of people who certainly are working overtime to give the African child, the decency they deserve as far as education is concerned, or part of it. One such person is the Texas based C.Nichole whose recently published Children's book entitled The Reign: Africa." - The Leo Nation
