About the Book

"You must heed our warning!" "We have always rewarded surrender over sacrifice, Ronan." "You must remember this for what is to come-" "And the promise of who you will meet in what comes after." It seemed a lifetime ago that Dr. Ronan Gallagher had succumbed to his obsessive need to uncover the deepest secrets of the Codex Druidicus, a grimoire of the very darkest magic. Though he'd tried to protect his closest friends from a threat that had followed them through multiple lifetimes, the choices made by the Druid doctor had been a betrayal of not only his friends but his own sacred oaths-a betrayal he would pay for with his life. Through the intervention of the Otherworld, he was given a second chance on this earthly realm to set things right. Yet, while the curse of the evil Sorcerer Cassius, ancient Child of Rome, might have been vanquished together with the Codex, the torturous tendrils born of Ronan's pride and obsessive weakness still thrive in the shadows, their reach extending further every day. When his fellow Druids learn of a massive explosion that has reduced a secret experimental Wraith facility to ruins, none can understand how Phoebe Ashburn, the sole survivor of the tortured experiments, has survived the blast's devastation ... and evaded their capture. With dark and volatile Wraith magic now trapped inside her-threatening her control and sanity-Phoebe is determined to discover how to rid herself of this inner darkness ... even if it means accepting the assistance of the very Druid doctor whose actions had led to her torture in the first place.

About the Author :
Kate Gateley is an award-winning Canadian contemporary fantasy and romance author. She holds a BA in Linguistics and a BSc in Physiology from the University of Saskatchewan and is a member of the Writers' Union of Canada and the Federation of BC Writers. Her ongoing study of ancestral memory and human psychology (among other side quests) continues to inform her writing and earn her honours as an author, including two consecutive Canadian Book Club Award wins and three shortlist nominations for the novels of The Lost Wells Trilogy, from which this duology stems. Kate currently lives, writes, and creates on a small farm in traditional, unceded Quw'utsun territory (Cowichan Bay, BC) with her wonderfully helpful husband and two amazing kids, as well as two dogs, two geese, and a whole lot of ducks and chickens. She enjoys a wide variety of hobbies, drinks a great deal of coffee, and is barefoot as often as possible.

Review :
"This tale masterfully fuses worldbuilding (the "underground magic") with a burgeoning romance ... The many questions that linger and a smashing cliffhanger are more than enough incentive to keep eyes out for the next installment." - Kirkus Reviews "The book's ability to incorporate the magical and the mundane, and to imagine reincarnated beings muddling through ordinary problems and seeking out therapy for help, makes for a refreshing, often surprising plot."- Foreword Clarion Reviews "The seamless fusion of paranormal fantasy with Celtic folklore is an obvious plus, but the story's real power comes from the emotionally super-charged dynamic between Ronan and Phoebe. Their relationship is messy, confusing-and completely authentic." - BlueInk Review
