About the Book

'A deeply affecting, exquisitely crafted work' The International Review of Books Following the successful publication of Bright Dust, author Jane Lightbourne's second poetry collection, Light Beneath The Lids, is now published by award-winning Nevada Street Press. Some poems in this new collection celebrate love in its varied forms, exploring the joy and darkness that romantic love brings, while others are inspired by the force and beauty of the natural world. The frailty of the human condition is always at the forefront of the poet's consciousness, but with a focus always on light and hope amid the darkness. Praise for Light Beneath the Lids 'A luminous collection that pulses with emotional intensity and lyrical grace. Jane Lightbourne distils longing, love, loss, and hope into crystalline verse. Her images linger, each poem a meditation on the ache of memory and the persistence of beauty.' The International Review of Books Praise for Bright Dust 'Exhilarating' Goodreads reviewer, Educator 'Wonderful ...Truly beautiful and moving.' Goodreads reviewer, Librarian 'Beautiful and haunting' NetGalley reviewer, Educator

Review :
Praise for Light Beneath the Lids 'Light Beneath the Lids is a luminous collection that pulses with emotional intensity and lyrical grace. Jane Lightbourne distils longing, love, loss, and hope into crystalline verse. Her images linger, each poem a meditation on the ache of memory and the persistence of beauty. A deeply affecting, exquisitely crafted work, which this reviewer was entirely captivated by.' The International Review of Books. 'Light Beneath the Lids shows off Lightbourne's ability to pack feeling into a few choice words. Her specific phrasing and use of metaphor bring each piece to life ... The sparks of verse leave you pondering the moment depicted, but overall work as a reminder to pay attention to the small moments of love, joy and beauty around you each day.' Ambassador, LoveReading Praise for Bright Dust 'Beautiful and profound but also tender and enigmatic, Bright Dust is a poetic odyssey that captures the essence of the human condition, making it a testament to Jane Lightbourne's promising talent in the literary world ... Lightbourne's work invites an appreciation for the subtle complexities of life and love, rendered with a delicate touch that speaks to the fragility and beauty of human connections.' The International Review of Books (AWARDED A BADGE OF EXCELLENCE)
