About the Author :

Lisa Field has been a Diagnostic Radiographer for over 28 years, graduating with a degree in diagnostic radiography in 1997 from the University of Salford. Lisa’s first post qualification position in the NHS was at the Royal Oldham Hospital in Greater Manchester, UK, moving in 1999 across the border into West Yorkshire to work for the Bradford teaching hospitals NHS Foundation trust, Bradford West Yorkshire, UK. Lisa’s interest in DXA and osteoporosis began in 2010 when she introduced a radiographer DXA reporting service qualifying with a Post Graduate Certificate in DXA Reporting and Management of Osteoporosis from the University of Derby in 2012. Lisa is now a consultant radiographer, the clinical lead for the DXA service and the Radiology osteoporosis lead, with a drive for improving bone health of the local population, promoting advanced practice and career development in DXA. Lisa is an Associate Lecturer in DXA reporting at the University of Derby.

Neil Powrie is a Diagnostic Radiographer, specialising in DXA scanning and DXA Reporting. Graduating in Diagnostic Imaging in 2008, from the University of the West of England, Neil commenced employment at Stepping Hill Hospital in Greater Manchester, UK. He first trained in DXA in 2010, completing the National (now ‘Royal’) Osteoporosis Society’s National Training Scheme for Bone Densitometry in 2012, and qualified in DXA reporting in 2015. He subsequently completed an MSc in Advanced Practice at the University of Derby in 2020. Neil has been a member of the Bone Densitometry Training Advisory panel for the Royal Osteoporosis Society and is an Associate Lecturer in DXA reporting at the University of Derby. He is now Lead DXA Radiographer at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, providing bone densitometry services for the Stockport and Tameside regions of Greater Manchester.
