About the Author :
D. Nirmal serves as Professor in Electronics and Communication Engineering and Associate Dean of Engineering and Technology at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, India. Dr. Nirmal has played a key role in driving academic reforms, promoting outcome-based competency-focused curriculum frameworks, and facilitating national accreditation initiatives. His research focuses on Modeling and TCAD simulation of power semiconductor devices, GaN HEMT devices, design, fabrication, and reliability analysis and circuit applications. Dr. Nirmal has successfully secured ₹21.1 million in research funding from DRDO, ISRO, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and AICTE, along with product development grants from the IIT Tirupati Navavishkar I-Hub Foundation (IITTNiF) and Analog Devices India Pvt. Ltd. (ADI). He is the founding chair of the IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS) Coimbatore Chapter and currently serves as the IEEE EDS Region 10 SRC Chair. Additionally, he is an active volunteer on several IEEE committees and a technical committee member for EDS Compound Semiconductor Devices and Circuits. His outstanding contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the IEI Young Engineer Award, the IETE Smt. Manorama Rathore Memorial Award (2022), and the Young Scientist Award (2019) from the Academy of Sciences. A prolific researcher, he has authored over 180 peer-reviewed publications and holds three patents. He is a Fellow of IETE and a Senior Member of IEEE. Dr. Nirmal is also a sought-after speaker, delivering keynote addresses and lectures at national and international conferences.
