Review :

“This book will save lives! Seeing people at the point of their need is what we should be aiming for in mental health services across the world. The contributors to this seminal book, superbly edited by Drs. Bobele and Slive, show how this can be done. So, ‘come in, sit down, no appointment needed’.”

Windy Dryden PhD, emeritus professor of Psychotherapeutic Studies, Goldsmiths University of London

“As often happens in human history, a great challenge, in this case, the COVID-19 pandemic, forced a better solution. The open-access (OA) service delivery model developed by Bobele, Slive, and others expands their earlier Walk-In No-Appointment-Necessary SST model to a much wider and breakthrough service model. This is a groundbreaking and must-read book for all mental health providers, clients, managers, and policymakers.”

Moshe Talmon, PhD, founder of International Center for Single-Session-Therapy. Author of Single Session Therapy: Maximizing the Effect of the First (and Often Only) Therapeutic Encounter

Implementing Single-Session Psychotherapy: When No Appointment Is Necessary is a major development in improving mental health services around the planet. Kudos to Bobele, Slive, and their colleagues for this important contribution!”

Michael F. Hoyt, PhD, independent practice, author of Single Session Therapy: A Clinical Introduction to Principles and Practices and Brief Therapy and Beyond

Implementing Single-Session Psychotherapy: When No Appointment Is Necessary is a critical read for those committed to transformative changes in access to mental healthcare. Bobele and Slive, renowned experts in the field, skillfully demonstrate the capacity of single-session therapy to effectively and sustainably address the needs of diverse populations. Scaling single-session therapy within the context of whole-system transformation has the potential to address many existing shortcomings in mental healthcare worldwide.”

Peter Cornish, PhD, University of California, Berkeley, founder Stepped Care 2.0

Implementing Single-Session Psychotherapy: When No Appointment Is Necessary is essential when we aim to be useful and creative in highly complex scenarios: violence, lack of resources, and inequalities. OA/SST provides a socially just and effective meaningful conversations at the right time, addresses clients’ specific concerns, and maximizes everyone’s resources. This book provides a unique mindset for current and future Mexican therapist’s toolboxes.”

Nora Rentería-Cobos, Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychology Department, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico City

“The editors and contributors are among the world’s most respected of single-session therapy (SST) practitioners. Discover how SST adapts to the digital age offering virtual, phone, and text-based services in addition to the more familiar in-person format. A timely and culturally responsive volume that empowers therapists of all theoretical orientations to enhance accessibility.”

John J. Murphy, PhD, professor emeritus and author of Solution-Focused Therapy (2024, American Psychological Association)

Implementing Single-Session Psychotherapy: When No Appointment Is Necessary is an excellent practice guide for psychotherapists offering immediate psychological support. Readers will find the most relevant strategies for working in culturally diverse client treatment settings and addressing complex themes. The authors emphasize cultural sensitivity as a key factor, making this book appealing to us in Mexico. This text is undoubtedly an essential everyday tool for therapists.”
