About the Book

When Joe Pickett is shot in the line of duty, his daughters must work together to find his attacker. The brilliant new thriller from New York Times bestselling author C.J. Box

'Raining here, but I’ve got a cup of hot tea and a Joe Pickett novel, so who has it better than me?' Stephen King

WHEN JOE PICKETT IS SHOT DOWN

HIS DAUGHTERS STEP UP

Marybeth Pickett gets the call she has always dreaded: her husband Joe is unconscious after being shot in the head.

He was found slumped behind the wheel of his pickup at a crossroads linking the ranches of three powerful families. Each have reasons to want the Wyoming Game Warden dead, but with no witnesses, no one knows who pulled the trigger.

As Joe clings to life, Marybeth keeps watch while their daughters – Sheridan, Lucy, and April – play the role their father cannot, investigating each family to expose long-held grudges and reveal the truth.

But the sisters must be careful – because if this was a warning, what might the attackers do to the people Joe loves most?

Review :
Raining here, but I’ve got a cup of hot tea and a Joe Pickett novel, so who has it better than me? The Crossroads drops readers into a high-stakes world of deceit and danger in the wilderness of Wyoming, where every moment counts. Box delivers yet another riveting Joe Pickett thriller that explores the unbreakable bonds of family amid a backdrop of action and treachery. This one is a smashing read! Everything hangs in the balance in C.J. Box’s The Crossroads—life and death, lawlessness and justice. But under the dangers, the bonds of family provide the beating heart to this riveting thriller. I devoured this book in a single, breathless sitting. The Crossroads proves why C.J. Box owns the modern American frontier. Joe Pickett is down but not out—and every page cuts deeper than the last. Loyalty, justice, and survival collide in a story that hits with the force of a .30-06 round across the Wyoming plains. The terrific C.J. Box shifts into overdrive at The Crossroads . . . the Pickett family fills this riveting thriller with heart as big as the American West. Warning: don’t open The Crossroads if you’ve got a busy week. Once you start it, there’s no walking away. Box’s writing is like a porcupine quill. It hooks into you and won’t let go. C.J. Box doesn’t just raise the bar with The Crossroads—he vaults over it. This is one of the most emotionally charged, gut-punching entries in the entire Joe Pickett series... Nobody writes the modern American West—or the moral battles waged within it—like C.J. Box, whose latest offering isn’t just a great thriller, it’s a masterclass in character, tension, and storytelling. Fans won’t just read this book—they’ll feel it.
