Stahl is Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the University of California, Riverside, and Honorary Visiting Senior Fellow in Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge.

This year, we observe the 60th anniversary of Geoffrey Hartigan's article, which first discovered the prophylactic activity of lithium in mood disorders. In the following years, lithium became a gold standard for preventing affective episodes in bipolar illness.
