About the Author :
Gerard Chaouat, M.D., Ph.D., is Directeur de Recherches CNRS at the Unite 262,Institut National de la Sante et de la Recherche Medicale, (INSERM), Clinique UniversitaireBaudelocque, France. He was Interne des Hopitaux de la Region de Paris from 1969 to1974, and graduated as an M.D. from the Faculte de Medecine Paris Lariboisiere in 1974.After Immunologie Fondamentale at the Pasteur Institute, Paris, and graduation in biochemistry,he received research training at the U 23 Unit (Dr. G. A. Voisin) from 1972 to 1974.He was a Medical Research Council fellow at the Wellcome Research Laboratories (Beckenham,Kent, U. K.) under the direction of Dr. James Howard. He was recruited as a CNRSscientist in 1975, at the U 23 INSERM, and was on leave for a year and a half period atNational Institutes of Health (NIH), NIAID, Bethesda, Maryland (Dr. Richard Asofsky) in1980 to 1981.
