About the Author :
Kimberly A. Hemmings has been an elementary educator for twenty years. She has taught children in all elementary grades, ranging from pre-kindergarten to the fifth grade. The combination of her teaching experience and her passion for reading, led her to become an author of children's literature. Kimberly has always had a passion for reading, ever since she was a child and loved the magical way books could expand her imagination, and take her to places far, far away. Her favorite books to as a child were rhyming books. Her mother also loved rhyme and often made up rhyming chants and songs that she would sing daily to her and her sister. Kimberly's love of rhyme and reading followed her into adulthood. As an adult, she grew to love writing as well, her favorite being writing in rhyme. She finally decided to share her passion of both writing and traveling by creating the Ace and Grace Travel Book series. She received inspiration for these stories from her numerous international travels. She has a passion for learning about and experiencing other cultures and is excited to share this passion with others. She currently lives in the United States, but has lived abroad for several years, and has spent extended time in various countries all around the world. Kimberly holds a M.Ed. Degree in Early Childhood Education, received National Board Certification, and has certifications in Elementary Leadership and Administration, as well as Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). She was also the recipient of the Fulbright Scholar Award, which included a six-week educational, trip to Ghana, West Africa, where she taught local students and provided professional development training for teachers. In addition to writing, traveling, and educating youth, she loves spending time with her husband and two sons, reading, cooking, and trying new foods. "Ace, Grace, and the Flying Suitcase Visit Jamaica" is the first book in the Ace and Grace Travel Books series. Jamaica was chosen to be the first book in the series because of the author's family ties to Jamaica and her extreme love for the island. Additional titles in the series, highlighting other countries around the world, will be available soon! For more information about Kimberly A. Review :
"Great book to enjoy at home, to vicariously visit Jamaica through the pages of a book, or to read prior to the families first trip to Jamaica." "Ace, Grace, and the Flying Suitcase Visit Jamaica is a fun and vibrant children's book! The story takes readers on an adventure across the island of Jamaica and inspires travel and adventure in young readers by spotlighting the local culture and sights of the country. It also has a broader theme of courage and overcoming fears." "As an elementary educator, I give this book five stars. The recipes, comprehension questions, glossary, and discussion questions are an added bonus! You will not be disappointed if you are looking for an entertaining and educational book for your family!" "This book is so colorful and powerful! It highlights a lot of Jamaica's culture and gives authentic details. It's worth getting a copy. Parents would enjoy this gem as they participate in reading it with their child/ren. An awesome book!" "After reading this book, I learned a lot as an adult, things I didn't know, but the book is definitely written for a child. This book is well worth the money because it can be used for different age groups in so many ways."
