About the Book

Whether her mother left because of something Wren did. . . or didn't do. . .no longer matters. The king blames his daughter for the mysterious disappearance of his wife and favors conquests that require his person far and away from his daughter. Little does he know, things are about to change; the princess has matured. There is a dragon to slay. When abandoned princess Wren discovers a friend and a passion for swords, she also acquires a crucible. Uncovering a mysterious key to unlock her grief, and honing her sword, Wren follows the path leading into the forest. In the new kingdom, spirited fans flatter and fawn over her, bringing her gifts, but are they attracted to her skill or to her need? On an appointed day, the princess must face the dragon herself. There also arises a problem of treachery. Her greatest strength leads her into nightmarish bondage. She is confronted with a task so impossible, she will need something far beyond her own strength to carry her through. Will she be able to win her quest for freedom or be forever indebted? GET THIS! "The story is emotionally gripping and pulls the reader along from Wren at puberty to full womanhood. This plot of INDEBTED lies among the best stories that grab our emotions and don't let go." - BOOKS FOR BONDING HEARTS This title is purchased by avid readers of The Wingfeather Saga, The Odyssey, Pendragon, A Boy and His Horse, the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Hunger Games, and Divergent. Charmayne Hafen's debut style is similar to: Veronica Roth, Suzanne Collins, J.R.R. Tolkien, Stephen R. Lawhead, and George MacDonald As a young adult/new adult myth INDEBTED is fringed with scary angels and ghosts as Wren finds herself finding her own authority. Her spirit must negotiate the maze of sorcery, magic, and a peasant-eating dragon before the adventure leads her to light and love.

Review :
"Describing a time of dragons, witches, and sword fighting, Indebted takes you to a place where a young princess blames herself for her mother's disappearance, something she is determined to rectify. I found Indebted to be an art piece, lovingly penned by an author who took great care in developing her characters. Excellent novel." Peggy Jo, Readers' Favorite "I know a lot of people will find it hard to put Christianity and an epic fantasy together, but Indebted has both of these elements and works very well. In fact, it was this uniqueness that made it stand out from other fantasy novels I've read before." Maureen Dangarembizi, Book Buyer "The clear-cut prose and passing of time suits the character-driven tale, as Wren struggles with the memories of her cynical mother and her estranged father. The plot has a good twist, and the sketches serve wonderfully as illustrations for Indebted. At its heart, Indebted is about parental issues, forgiveness, love, confidence, inner strength, friendship, greed, and - to a great extent - faith. Hafen has written a thought-provoking tale."
