About the Book

It's Fat Tuesday and Yat and Dat are on a float, riding high. "I feel like a queen," said Yat, pointing her bejeweled beak at the sky. "So this is what Mardi Gras is like," said Dat, as krewe members opened their boxes of throws. Riders had plenty of beads, just how many nobody knows. Parker's story of the life of beads stuck in trees is imaginative and fun to read aloud. The book includes lots of information about Mardi Gras traditions and history, including a current list of krewes and the year they were organized.
