About the Book

The war in Afghanistan was winding down -- but was it truly winding down for everyone? Chris Gage, a lieutenant in the US Army, found himself captured by an Afghan warlord after saving members of unit during a bombing and firefight in the mountains. Chris' capture would indelibly leave a mark on his life that never could have predicted. During his captivity, Chris meets one of the Brenni-Khan clan warlords, The Scorpion. The Scorpion is both revered and feared in the mountainous region. The Scorpion, or more commonly known, Ria Khan, is a beautiful green-eyed woman from the Silk Road region. It's not long before Chris' and Ria's lives become interconnected on all levels -- security, lover and mother of his child. Chris is haunted by the mother and child he left back in Afghanistan. In an efoort to keep focused on the homefront instead of the warfront, Chris takes a job at Star Communications - a private security data analysis company for government agencies. Chris also persues a love interest with a beautiful TV reporter, Denise Daniel. Life seems to be going well for Chris until his past catches up with him. Espionage and death follow Chris to the end.

About the Author :
Woody Keller is a resident of the Jersey Shore. His high interest and often humorous articles and stories have a dedicated following. His credits include television, magazines and newspapers. When his home was destroyed in Superstorm Sandy his manuscripts and outlines were stored in boxes. Every one fell victim to the flood. Displaced for a year, Mr. Keller began writing Ria. It is loosely based on the ancient Greek play Media. Media's love for Jason is overwhelming and the play has a frightful ending. Because of its darkness, Media is rarely used or copied.

Review :
My family read Ria on vacation and we could not put it down. We would sit on the porch late at night in disbelief and de-brief on what had just transpired. It was such a page turner that we could not wait for the other to catch up so we could discuss what we had read. The dynamic and multi-dimensional character Ria kept us guessing until the end...I still think about her inner thoughts and demons. Chris is the counter balance to Ria, and his love was so deep that it makes for a true fairytale love story...without a fairy tale ending. The historical accuracy was remarkable and it makes me want to learn more about the mysterious Khan women. Becky Kalinowski, Microbiologist, Middlefield Connecticut Woody Keller has created a page turning adventure. Each chapter is an episode. The historic details are interesting and leave the reader wanting deeper information. The author does not allow this and drives the reader back to the main plot. The story separates itself from others of this genre' in an intriguing style of writing. The personalities of Chris and Ria are revealed by how they react to the high interest sub-plots and diverse array of minor characters. Ria has it all. The story is captivating and the characters are believable. The themes, though, poke at the readers leaving them thinking, "I've felt like that." Terry Adams, Attorney, Knoxville, Tennessee I found the book Ria: Remnant of the Khan to be a very introspective as well as a captivating tale told from a detailed point of view enveloping written composition. From battle in Afghanistan to marriage, every bit of Chris's journey is well thought out and engaging to readers looking for characters that they can relate to through intricate development. Along my extensive reading, I discovered different interpretations that came about during discussions and recommended this piece of literature to my book club. Replay value-wise [future editions], it's worth two or three more, and what would benefit the writer as well, would be a companion to allow readers to further dive deeper into the backstories of the characters. Overall, I'm quite thankful to have been able to journey into this adventure. Linwood Storm, Author, Actor
