Elsewhere/Where Else: (1 Turnabout)

One book, two stories, each connected to one another, giving the reader the choice of where to begin: Joshua is a genetically-modified human, created to survive a 490-light-year voyage to another habitable planet after Earth is destroyed by a meteorite. He stumbles upon a genocidal plot among the elites of the ship, and somehow must find a way to survive using only his savant-like intellect. Marai accompanies her mother on sabbatical to live among a lost tribe, when they encounter another murderous tribe who can see despite sewing their eyes closed. She learns of an ancient prophecy concerning her, and must use her power of belief to survive the impending doom. How are the two stories connected? You might not know until you finish both!

At the first glance, Russ Wood might look like the average guy. Husband, father, Marine, teacher, writer. But if you look harder, you might change your opinion to "below average," because you didn't notice his ear hair the first time around. Rest assured, once he clips it, He'll be back to average! Russ Wood wrote his first book at age seven on a trip to California. The family all chose to go to the beach while he opted to stay in the motorhome and write instead. The thrill of writing combined with the palpable fear of sharks eating him compelled him to set his foot on this path and not look back. After he had written a few more masterpieces, his school librarian put check-out cards in his books and shared them with all the students of Indian Hills Elementary School. This encouraged Wood in his writing, and he continued on in honing his craft. He continued to write into adulthood, although mostly for the benefit of friends and family, and sometimes college professors. Only after receiving overwhelming encouragement to market his novel "Elsewhere/Where Else," did he take the steps to share his stories with a broader audience. He currently lives in Pocatello, Idaho, and is happily married with five children and enough pets to start a pet store. (And don't think he hasn't considered it, kids!) I really like Elsewhere! I love the symbolism, I love the pictures I see when I read. I love the idea that the veil is that thin and a collision of the spirit world and our world would allow for us to see and fly and have spiritual ability while in the body. I could read more about these two....and would like to do so soon. Whenever I have enjoyed a book or movie and later it pops into my head, I know it is a good one. --Steven Douglas I loved the spiritual aspect of Elsewhere and think this book has the potential of really helping someone who has lost a loved one... Not only did I love reading this book, but it is awesome to see my 8 year old son be so excited about reading thanks to this book.
