About the Book

In the wake of George Floyd's murder on May 25, 2020, I was drowning in a flood of despair, hopelessness, and so much anger. A notebook was my life jacket. I seized my intuition, my knowledge and wisdom and chose instead to utilize my anger and trauma to transform brokenness into a powerful healing modality, a radically revolutionary remedy to soothe feelings of powerlessness. When I needed a place to unburden myself, writing was not only a safe space but also an empowering one. Indeed, writing has its own power for both writer and reader. As I wrote what was near and dear to me in that heartspace full of many different emotions, I realized I had been seeking an external remedy when, all along, the remedy was deep within my body, mind, and spirit. This book is an act of reclaiming power.
