About the Book

Part 2 of a series entitled Charlie: Tales of a Diplomatic Dog. Charlie is a cocky Jack Russell and member of a diplomatic family who travels extensively and has lived in many places. With a tendency to run away and get in a spot of trouble, Charlie meets up with some colorful characters in their natural environment and learns a thing or two about the local traditions. The series is targeted at children aged 6 to 10 years and aims to highlight not only diverse cultures but also natural surroundings and the various animals found in different countries. The book contains a short glossary with facts about South Africa with a focus on the people, culture, and nature. The reading level of the text is somewhat high as it discusses apartheid and is therefore appropriate for an older audience or for reading with a parent, the idea is that parents too might learn something new.

About the Author :
Lisa O'Donoghue-Lindy currently lives in Washington DC but was born in Cork, Ireland, where she lived until she was 12 before immigrating to the US (Connecticut) with her family. After university, she moved to Brussels, Belgium, where she worked in Communications for 11 years, married a Finn with wanderlust, and had a baby girl. The threesome moved to South Africa for 3 years where they adopted Charlie, the naughtiest Jack Russell in the world, and welcomed another daughter into the international clan. From there, work took them to Greece, where they rescued Finnegan and his brother Booker from the streets of Crete. After 2 years living in the sun, chasing goats, and exploring the Greek Isles, all three dogs moved with the family to Finland where they lived for another 3 years until relocating to Washington DC. Booker remained in Finland where he was 20150710_104747adopted by a lovely woman, Jaana, and her daughter, Lilli. He connects with his brother via Facebook where they try to outdo each other with the best "I've got it made" pics. Wendy Risch grew up in Orangeville, Pennsylvania and currently has a home base in Washington, DC. She graduated with a BS in Medical Technology but now travels with her husband around the globe for work and has taken up painting and drawing as her portable career. The mother of two young and vivacious girls, Wendy has connected with her artistic side and is inspired by her children to try to capture the fun of youth in her illustrations and artwork. Wendy is greatly looking forward to the day when her dog, Pez, can be reunited with Charlie, both in real life as well as on the written page.
