About the Book

In October 2020 we published the 3rd edition with a new preface and new typography throughout the whole book, to match the styes of our other books, 'MASTERING' and 'ONLINE'. LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) is thriving. How is it that a child's toy, has become a serious strategy tool used by some of the worlds best known organisations? And what might be the relevance of this method in your work? LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) is the result of 15 years development. A powerful method to solve problems, explore ideas and achieve objectives based on management theory using a toy. Serious Work enables readers to understand what LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) is and how it works. This practical and well designed workbook helps people have better meetings; it shows how LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) is used in five common kinds of meeting and workshop, enabling improvement in communication, collaboration and outcomes. It is intended for people who run meetings. Leaders, managers, facilitators and coaches who are seeking ways to help teams work-together well, will find this book especially helpful. Readers who are interested in or responsible for coaching, problem solving, visioning, team building or strategy will find the ideas challenge conventional meeting norms (thankfully) and offer a different and better way to achieve great meeting outcomes . The book offers case studies, step-by-step guides and templates from a range of common applications that you can download and adapt to your own needs. Our hope is this book gives you the knowledge and confidence to try basic LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) techniques before learning more. The book features advice and case studies from nine other respected LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) facilitators from countries including USA, Singapore, Sweden, Russia, Switzerland, Germany, and China.

About the Author :
Sean is the founder of a ProMeet, an international professional facilitation business. He facilitates learning, growth and change in meetings, workshops, conferences, including with LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) all over the world. Sean is one of the LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) community's most active practitioners. He set up the first LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) MeetUp group in London. There are now over 40 LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) MeetUp groups globally. Described as a systems innovator and 'itinerant provocateur', he imagines a better world. Unwittingly this annoys traditionalists. Sean is part of the leadership team of EMENA International Association of Facilitators (IAF), an organisation that promotes the power of facilitation. He is an IAF Certified Professional Facilitator and a winner of an IAF 'Facilitation Impact Award'. Marko's passion for and early adoption of LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) led him to establish the SeriousPlayPro community website that now has over 2000 members. Marko rst heard about LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) at a conference with serious play guru Professor Johan Roos in 2005 and began experimenting with the method. In 2007 Marko started his doctoral studies at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland where a former Imagination Lab research fellow professor Claus D. Jacobs became his academic mentor. Marko participated in one of the last LEGO(R) Serious Play(R) certification training sessions that was provided directly under the auspices of the LEGO(R) Corporation. He has facilitated at tiny start-ups and international multinationals.

Review :
Hats off to Sean and Marko for writing and designing this wonderful book. As two of the original LEGO(R) SERIOUS PLAY(R) master trainers, we are thrilled to see former students, now masters, encouraging others to try LEGO(R) SERIOUS PLAY(R) in their work. Through photos and short descriptions, this user-friendly book guides readers to a basic understanding of this powerful methodology. By spreading the concepts to a larger audience, this text will place LEGO(R) SERIOUS PLAY(R) into the hands of a new user base. Their applications of this method will keep it growing strongly. As you adopt and modify these tools in your own work, we hope you will inspire others by sharing your reflections with the larger community of users. This book can only encourage more people to join the chorus of voices promoting creative thinking, imagination, and play. As adults, we need to bring these ideas back into our lives to improve our collaborations. We are excited to see what comes next! Play On! Jacqueline Lloyd Smith, Denise Meyerson
