About the Book

Fly into the engrossing world of bugs with the buzziest book in the What on Earth? Explorer series, complete with a six-foot-long fold-out timeline.Join explorer Agent Eagle on his next mission, as he shares the history and science of our insect friends. From ants and bees, to spiders and wasps, learn what a bug is – scientifically – through an understanding of classifications, body shape identification, bug communication and more. Uncover the history of bugs, including how they evolved and how they are born and grow, and unearth how they support our environment. A list of great bug explorers, a quiz, name game, and glossary lead you to the grand finale – a fold-out timeline featuring 100 of the creepiest, crawliest, coolest creatures that ever lived – from their first appearance 520 million years ago until today. Explorer: BUGS by Nick Forshaw and William Exley is a (Youth) Non-Fiction Finalist, 2018 International Book Awards.

Review :
"Fun and full of interesting facts." "A unique approach to bug history: a secret agent must travel back in time to create a report on the complete history of bug life. Set up like a graphic novel and explorer's notebook and including a six foot timeline at the end this is eye-catching and engrossing. Agent Eagle introduces himself at the start, explaining his mission in the graphic novel portion. We learn about each era of bug life, as well as humans' interactions with bugs in the explorer's notebook portion. Hand-drawn illustrations, basic facts, and cool trivia combine to make this an interesting read." "One of my favorite things about this book is that it has a HUGE fold-out timeline about the history of bugs in the back of the book. I love bugs, so I really enjoyed this book!" "Epic - this is history let out of a box." "While the timeline that unfolds larger than the kitchen table is the rock star of this book, any child interested in the insect world is likely to make a beeline for Explorer: Bugs!" - Silver Honor - Parent's Choice Awards 2018 "The What on Earth (books) . . have become known for delivering the facts – on various subjects – in a fun, informative and visually appealing way. These books deliver on many levels and I couldn’t be more impressed. Never mind the children – I’d like the whole series for myself!" "BUGS! makes a complex topic attractive. The Indiana Jones look-alike, Agent Eagle, and his exploration keeps young readers involved." "While the timeline that unfolds larger than the kitchen table is the rock star of this book, any child interested in the insect world is likely to make a beeline for Explorer: Bugs!" "This is a great book and it would make a great birthday or Christmas gift and it would be great as a book to use in schools"
