About the Book

There's nothing ground-breaking in here. Nothing that hasn't already been discovered by someone else, written about, spoken about, taught, sold, preached. So if you're looking for NEW, this ain't the place. If you're looking for cool stuff that an everyday chick has learned that's helped bring her happiness, joy, and success, let's do this. Because me? I'm nothing special. No more special than you or anyone else on the planet. People think I am. They tell me all the time, You're an amazing woman, Shelly. (How do you even respond to that?) I'M JUST LIKE YOU. Or just not like you, to be exact, because there is no normal. There is no right way to be or not be.We're all equally amazing in our uniqueness. We're all certain amounts of messed up, and that's all OK too. I'm just little old Shelly, like you're little old Fru-fru-Pants. AND, while being a regular chicky, I've learned some stuff, and it's freed me. Here's the good stuff I've learned. It's really all in your Head! No, really. All of it. The ability to take control of your life, your emotions, your future, your PAST, it's ALL IN YOUR HEAD. Life is not about actions, it's about thoughts. Success is not about actions, it's about thoughts. HAPPINESS is not about actions, it's about thoughts. So what? So get therapy. A lot of it. START NOW. > CONTENTS: It's all in your head Vulnerability is stronger than titanium Parenting is hard Parenting is especially hard for me Act like you're in charge, and you are Don't expect one person to meet all your emotional needs Not everyone needs a hand on the small of their back Shame is an a-hole and you can own that bitch Cats are a-holes, too Say thank you to compliments Nerves and self-consciousness are NOT YOUR FRIEND Give. Then give some more Have boundaries I'm not flighty, naïve, or too sensitive You don't need permission to lead You are descended of divinity What's the worst that could happen? You can be a good person AND be wealthy Do you enjoy it? I can do grief There's always going to be another thing You don't have to be everyone's cup of tea I can live through even the BIGGEST failures Getting older ROCKS! You have every right to be rude This book is written in a raw, heartfelt way that is simply Shelly sharing from her gut. It will resonate with anyone who has been through things - big things - and will also make a brilliant graduation gift.

About the Author :
Rocking her 40s, Shelly Davies is living a dream she didn't know she had - helping people live more fully, more authentically, and more in their truth. She does this with a lot of laughs, her new traditional Māori chin tattoo, and a fair amount of curse words sprinkled liberally through everything she does, even her website. Shelly's story is one of loving self through dead husbands, depression, obesity, single parenting, running an #accidentallyawesome business, and even, much to her equal dismay and delight, grand-parenting. By brand, Shelly's a "Rockstar Writing Trainer" - one of New Zealand's go-to deliverers of business and technical writing training. But boy, those engineers and government departments don't realise what they're going to get once Shelly's in the room. What they get is a lot of UNTRAINING - undoing all of the bad habits they picked up at university and through their careers. With hashtags like #writelikeahuman and #authenticitywins, Shelly encourages research-based approaches to writing in more authentic ways, with a natural voice that increases confidence and trust. For a really good kick-in-the-ass to loving yourself more and communicating more effectively, Shelly's the freshest face around.

Review :
Colleen Henry (verified owner) - October 30, 2018 Okay so I may have read this whole book out loud to my mum as soon as I got it and we might've learned some good shit and had some really great laughs and then we had some moments of reflections too! It really is some good shit! (Really good stuff!) I love this book! It's such a great addition to my bookcase and I'm better for having read it Sonya Palmer (verified owner) - October 30, 2018 It's not often I want to reread a book. This book, or should I say my now long lost book! I couldn't put it down and I had to share it with my bestie who just had to share it with another bestie...apparently. It's gone. I'm jealous. So I'm here grabbing another but that's okay because I will go on a shelf with the few favourite books I have kept. It's the type of book I know I need to read more than once because the way it is written, like sitting down with a good friend who tells you some good shit and you just want to hear it again and again. I LOVED this book. Belinda Thomas (verified owner) - October 30, 2018 I bloody love it!! And you, so much! And thank you for solving my client Christmas present dilemma, your book is genius. Kirsty Norton (verified owner) - October 30, 2018 Loved it!! Honest, funny, real. Easy read with some good shit to learn from too. Thanks for putting it out there Shelly Rach Jaunay (verified owner) - October 31, 2018 Real talk. A paradigm shifter - good books do that! Thank you so much for sharing. Jess Drury (verified owner) - November 12, 2018 Shelley Davies does not disappoint with her book, "Good Shit I've Learned." I read the whole book in one sitting (after I put the kids to bed). It felt like having coffee with a friend where the conversation gets real and goes deep. The kind of conversation where you laugh till your sides hurt, shed a few tears in empathy and understanding, and come away feeling SEEN. Thank you for your words and your wisdom. Thank you for your vulnerability and your strength. Thank you for the permission to be messy and imperfect and not have it all figured out. And thank you for the reminder to look for the joy and goodness that life brings.
