About the Book

When eleven-year-old TJ finds a weird looking egg in the Florida Everglades after a tropical storm rips through, naturally he takes it home for identification. It could be the egg of a mutant duck or something, which would be awesome. Problem is, the egg doesn't look like it came from a mallard, even a mutated one--it's too big and heavy and...strange. So he hides it away in his closet and continues on with his life as usual, doing his best to ignore the creepy men constantly banging at his front door and the significant rise in military helicopter sightings in his typically quiet neighbourhood. Then one day he comes home from school and it's as though a cyclone has gone through his bedroom. Suddenly, TJ knows he's dealing with something a little more interesting--and a little more deadly--than a duck.

About the Author :
Cody B. Stewart was born in the Adirondacks, in Upstate New York. His love of stories began in those mountains as he vanquished trolls, fought in the American Revolution and discovered his latent mutant powers. Stories have continued to consume his life, but he now plucks them out of his head and puts them down on paper in the form of novels and comic books. He left the Adirondacks to grow into a man, did so, and has since returned with a wonderfully supportive wife and two sons. Adam Rocke Slutsky never met an adventure he didn't love. From swimming with great white sharks without a cage, to jumping out of a plane without a parachute, Adam's adrenaline junkie tendencies play a major role in his writing.Throw in a secondary degree in CryptoZoology, and it's anyone's guess where Adam's literary travels will take him.

Review :
I so enjoyed Rex. Authors Cody B. Stewart, Adam Rocke, and Mark Rogers have done a fantastic job in creating an engaging and fun story for their intended audience, and definitely one that will keep them reading! The story is well written and fast paced, full of adventure and thrills, but still appropriate for the intended audience. Many young readers will easily be able to identify with the main character, TJ, and will want to read more of him and his adventures, I am sure. I highly recommend this book, and look forward to reading more from this talented author trio as soon as they have something new to offer! --Review by Tracy Slowiak of Readers' Favorite This was a fantastic and cute story, something that will easily be enjoyed by children and adults alike. It is obviously written for children and the flow and wording suits that target audience very well. As an adult reading it, I was entertained by the story as well. My young nephew has asked for this to go into his regular bedtime story rotation after I used him as my test subject for a child's reaction. TJ could be any curious child out there who likes adventure and to see what they can discover in nature, and, boy, does he bring an adventure home with him! This really is a fantastic book that will ignite any young boy or girl's imagination and have them out hunting to see if they can find their own Rex egg. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a young mind interested in reading and having more of their own adventures. A great children's book. --Review by Kathryn Bennett of Readers' Favorite Cody B. Stewart, Adam Rocke, and Mark Rogers' action and adventure novel for children and preteens, Rex, rocks. It has an interesting location as it is set right at the edge of the Everglades, a great cast of characters, a plot that's loaded with action and suspense, and then there's Rex. This hybridized hatchling is the neatest creature to form a bond with humans since E.T., Hagrid's baby dragon, and Short Circuit's Number 5, with just enough savagery and minimal gore to keep the reader cognizant of the fact that Rex is, indeed, a predator who can do quite a bit of damage. But a reader would have to have an icy cold heart not to appreciate TJ and Rex's interactions, especially those shared smiles and hugs. I found myself pausing at such moments and visualizing the scenes in my head. And would I take home a giant egg now after reading Rex? You bet! Rex had me hooked and unwilling to stop reading until I finished the last page. And yes, I want more. I'm hoping to see more of Rex and TJ, and whatever else these three talented authors can dream up. Rex is most highly recommended. --Review by Jack Magnus of Readers' Favorite TJ Beaumont is an interesting kid, a member of the Cub Scouts, the kind of character that perfectly epitomizes the universe of adolescents and the things they worry about, only he is one with an acute sense of duty and a love for adventure that could cost him so much. I loved the way the themes of teamwork, service to one's community, inner freedom, and a sense of belonging are explored in this well-crafted fantasy for children. As an adult, I fell in love with TJ Beaumont and it must be said that the authors did an exceedingly wonderful job with the area of character development and plot. Rex by Cody B. Stewart, Adam Rocke, and Mark Rogers will entertain readers beyond their wildest imaginations, and the humor will keep the reader laughing for very long hours. --Review by Arya Fomonyuy of Readers' Favorite
