About the Book

'A part of me died last week. But, alhamdulillah, it wasn't hope. It wasn't courage. And it definitely wasn't faith and trust in my Lord's perfect plan.' When Na'ima B. Robert's husband of sixteen years returned to his Lord in the spring of 2015, her world changed forever. Struggling to deal with her grief, bewildered, in pain and, unable to sleep, Na'ima turned to her pen for solace and support. These are the words she wrote: beautifully honest, exquisitely raw and, ultimately, profoundly redemptive. These are the words that saved her life, and they could save yours. Through this collection of poetry and prose, Na'ima reaches out to those who have loved and lost, and calls on us to cherish the gifts we have while we still have them -- our spouses, our children, and our very lives. Join one widow on her transformational journey through her 'iddah and prepare to be touched to the core.

About the Author :
Na'ima B. Robert is descended from Scottish Highlanders on her father's side and the Zulu people on her mother's side. She was born in Leeds, England, grew up in Zimbabwe, and went to university in London, England. At high school, her loves included performing arts, public speaking, and writing stories that shocked her teachers! She has written several multi-cultural books for children which have won, and been shortlisted, for numerous awards. Na'ima divides her time between the UK and Cairo, Egypt, and dreams of living on a farm with her own horses. Until then, she is happy to be a mum to her five children and keep reading and writing books that take her to a different world each time.

Review :
"In this book of poetry and prose, Na'ima B. Robert gives words to the unspoken and hope to the hurting and broken. It is a reminder of both the brevity and beauty of life and love, and a reminder that our loved ones are but loans to us from Allah and that our healing after loss lies in not allowing our broken hearts to break us...at least not completely." -- Umm Zakiyyah, internationally acclaimed author of 'Pain: From the Journal of Umm Zakiyyah' and 'His Other Wife' "Na'ima B. Robert takes you on an inevitable journey of loss and gently prepares your heart through spiritual guidance, reflection and inspiration. She has perfectly balanced the wrenching pain of grief with stories of hope and trust in Allah. Na'ima caresses your heart with her therapeutic words in the state of sorrow, while strengthening your soul with resolve and determination. The optimism permeates every powerful poem, capturing the true essence of a believer which is to live with acceptance and submission when faced with tribulations." -- Haleh Banani, International psychologist & Founder of the 5 Pillars of Marriage online program
