About the Book

"Today, I am in the changing room of my life and tomorrow, win or lose, I'll move forward a stronger and wiser woman." Sandy Lovett's confused mother and chaotic life are having an effect on her waistline. She knows she needs to change her life but doesn't know how until she buys a risque dress which sets in motion a sequence of life-changing events. After years as a mother, carer and full-time employee, Sandy quits her job and places her mother in a care home, and life seems on the up. But disaster is never far away for the hapless Sandy as her mother's obsessions continue to wreak havoc and her husband's business begins to fail. Short of cash and needing a flexible job, Sandy joins a sex-chat service. At The Beaver Club Sandy discovers a talent for selling telephone sex - a skill she later regrets when she meets unscrupulous local politician and prospective MP, Trewin Thackeray. The Changing Room is a comedy-drama for all those whose glass is half-full. Preferably with gin and a big fat cherry! The Changing Room contains book club discussion points and an author Q and A.

About the Author :
Jane Turley was born in the Malverns, England, but spent her childhood in the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare where she spent years gazing out of her Silver Cross Pram. Her excessive exposure to salty air and seagull poop left her deeply traumatized and possessing a bizarre sense of humour. It has been a problem for her (and everyone else) ever since. Despite her many shortcomings, Jane has written for the BBC, the literary magazine The View From Here and is the author of the short story collection A Modern Life. Jane can generally be found entertaining readers on her long-standing humour blog The Witty Ways of a Wayward Wife where she recounts her adventures as the acerbic Housewife Extraordinaire.

Review :
"In a gorgeous rom-com which reaches the fast-beating heart of every middle-aged woman's secret hopes and fears, Jane Turley conjures up a warm, hilarious and wonderfully wise tale of love, loss and laughter. As author of the long-standing blog The Witty Ways of a Wayward Wife, Turley is no stranger to combining humour and pathos in her writing, and The Changing Room works the same irresistible magic." Lancaster Evening Post; "This was a hilarious, sad, compassionate and fist pumping book that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was entertainment and more." NetGalley; "I don't think I've ever read a book that has made me laugh and cry so much! Sandy and her family and friends are the funniest people. Jane takes difficult subjects - Alzheimer's and cancer - and treats them respectfully but with a ton of humour! She is the master of the throwaway line." NetGalley; "Turley exploits her natural talent for lively humour - and the everyday dramas and tragedies that many overstretched mothers, daughters and housewives will recognise - in a story that veers from slapstick to soulful at the turn of a page." St Helen's The Reporter"; "A funny, sharp, optimistic story with a surprisingly fun and positive ending. There's tears, a lot of laughs, some action and sex. A winner for reading on lazy days." Netgalley' "A beautiful, well-written story about real life people with their real-world troubles. The book has a 'personality' of its own, and this from a veAry voracious reader." Goodreads
