"Replacement Children" throws hard punches. Maloy knows his refreshingly mature characters, and is not afraid to send them down rough roads. Real people make for scarier horror stories than do vampires and werewolves. Charlie "Dense" Woods and Vivien Granville are lost in a forest full of shadows cast by their own ravenous kin. Here's a dark look at the institutions of marriage, family, and money that you cannot easily dismiss.
