About the Book

An approachable textbook for medical practitioners and technologists studying to become ultrasound practitioners. Written by a leading ultrasound educator and designed to suit typical university, college or professional courses. Also appropriate for self-guided study. The first edition of this book sold over 5000 copies. This second edition brings the content up to date, while retaining the style and chapter structure of the first. Many sections have been rewritten, new material has been introduced and some outmoded material removed. As before, a Study Guide has been developed to complement the text.

About the Author :
Robert Gill is a popular ultrasound physics lecturer. He is highly regarded for his ability to explain complex concepts to non-physicists in an easy-to-understand way. He teaches in a number of university and professional courses and offers online courses via his own "sonophys" website. He is a member of the Board of Examiners of the Australasian DDU (a qualification for specialist physicians) and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of NSW. Rob was a member of the renowned Ultrasonics Institute in Sydney, Australia, where he specialised in Doppler research and pioneered fetal Doppler measurements. He has published over 70 scientific papers and book chapters and 150 conference papers and authored 4 international patents. His textbooks and study guides have been widely successful, with over 5000 copies sold worldwide.

Review :
A rare gem. A dazzling new text. Explains the major concepts with ease, clarity and stylistic elegance. A pleasure to read. Incredibly comprehensive. Brings together theory and practice in one harmonious package. Should be a part of the reference library of every ultrasound department. (Australasian Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine) Probably the best text of its type that I have seen. Fulfils its aim in a simply outstanding way. Topics are described with the same clarity that has led the author to be one of the most valued teachers of ultrasound technology in Australia. The author is able to marry his sophisticated knowledge of ultrasound technology with simplicity and clarity of explanation. (RANZCR Inside News) An invaluable resource for students, teachers and all users of ultrasound. Comprehensively covers all aspects of the physics of ultrasound. Covers the most complex concepts in a particularly accessible manner using language that is clear, concise and understandable. I loved this book and would highly recommend it to all students of ultrasound. (ASA Sound Effects) An excellent resource for both qualified sonographers and student sonographers. (Journal of Medical Radiation Sciences)
