About the Book

Do You See What I See? is an amalgamation of photography, humor, and art-an expression of the creator's perception. By means of carefully crafted imagery, the book explores precepts and corresponding perceptions; moreover, each image is a projected vision of an alternate reality of what would be normally considered as a natural scene. James refers to his technique of manipulating the original photographs he takes as morphography, or in his street terms photo-hooliganism. James is a professional photographer and graphic designer and has blended these skills with a distinctive brand of subtlety, to create a unique twist on everyday situations. The eclectic works combine to provide a new and interesting take on clichA(c)s; the puns and sayings of the titles compliment the images and trap the reader into having a longer, closer look at what each photograph provides.

About the Author :
A professional photographer and graphic designer, James Sallie is easily distracted by composition of ideas, concepts, and images that are not confined to his current profession. Prior to exploiting his creative talent and establishing Morphographics, James's life was diverse and intriguing. He has been a laborer, a farm worker, a miner, and the general manager of a large international company. He also spent two years in Bosnia, during the height of the Balkans war. He met his beautiful and very patient wife, Marilyn, in Sarajevo. They have two amazing children and live in Perth, Western Australia.

Review :
This was a really interesting book of pictures and graphic manipulation. The author has taken photos and twisted them into his own perspective. Almost like we do when we are looking at clouds and we see a shape. When we point it out to someone else, they see it too. In this book, there is no one around to point out the interesting things the author has done with some of the pictures. You know something is up with the pictures; otherwise it wouldn't be in this book. Some of the things are obvious, some are slick twists, and others I still haven't' figured out. Most gave me a good chuckle. I had to have my daughters' keen eyes look at a couple and help me figure them out. But it was still fun trying to figure out what the author wanted us to see or not see and we all enjoyed the book. Review: Dorothy Torres NetGalley I'm not sure how I feel about this book. It was entertaining but I don't think it's worth the price. According to amazon you can get this for Kindle for $9.99 and in hardback for $70. It not worth $70 and I'm not sure it's worth $10. It's interesting and I do recommend picking up a copy from the library but it lacks that something that would get me to come back to it time and time again. The humor is very juvenile, which is okay and some of the pictures are clever but it's not the sort that really catches your eye. In places, I found the book confusing and rather frustrating. I believe that James Sallie has some great talent but many pictures just looked thrown together. I have set this aside for my husband and son to look at and I will share their opinion which may differ from mine. Review: Sara Thompson NetGalley
