About the Book

My Brave Little Man continues.... Terry was eight when he was adopted, along with his younger sister, to a childless farm couple in western Minnesota. Although he was bright, curious, and fiercely independent, he suffered from emotional neglect due to being separated from his biological family as a toddler, followed by the three years he spent in an orphanage. Terry quickly learns that farm life is tough, but, over time, the long hours and the hard, physical labor have a rewarding side. His new father treats him more as a hired man than a son. But, his new mother, her father, the soul modeling community he finds himself in, a wonderful teacher who turns him into a voracious reader, and the arrival of a fragment of the Eternal Father at the age of twelve, gradually begins to uplift his soul's values. Despite this, however, the road he traveled was an empty highway. To fill the void, Terry channels his energy into sports, where he excels, particularly in fast pitch softball and wrestling. He is tough, self-assured, and he stands out, but he still doesn't fit into the male pecking order. Will that ever change? Follow Terry on his journey through adolescence in Book II of the My Brave Little Man Series, as he details the perks and pitfalls of country living, what it's like to rise and fall through the ranks of sports, and the profound effects unconditional love can have on a soul that's been carrying, as his mother points out, "The Weight of the World" on his shoulders. Will Terry finally fit in? Find out in Book III, Growing Skin. Coming soon.

About the Author :
Terry A. Degner is a widower, father, and grandfather. For over twenty-three years, he designed, wrote, directed, and edited hundreds of video, sound, and multimedia productions; including children's shows, documentaries, dramas, and training and promotional programs. For twelve of those years, he owned and managed a video production company, and his skill at script-writing is what brought in the repeat business. In addition to his media career, the author spent twelve years in sales and marketing, climbing the corporate ladder and winning many awards along the way. He has an education in electronics from the U.S. Navy, a degree from the University of Minnesota in speech (broadcast) journalism, and he is a certified webmaster. Terry was ideally suited to write, with captivating dialogue, this continuing true account of his life-a goal he set for himself at the age of twelve.

Review :
A book I couldn't put down! When I pick up a book & can't put it down that's a 5 The best part is Terrys form of writing, it's as if he's sitting across from you telling his story! - Sarah B. What an amazing tale of overcoming!Anyone who has struggled with adjusting to a new home, particularly one in the country, will relate to Degner's memoir that shares the perks and pitfalls of country living. The story also singles out the every day heroes who made a difference in his life when he was young. Readers of memoirs will really enjoy the story! - R. Anderson Growing up on a farmI grew up on a farm so when I read The Weight of the World I was immediately connected to the author's descriptions of the hard work he had to do, by the church communities impact on his life, and by what the love of his new family ended up doing for him. He went through many ups and downs, but from what I read, I think farm life made him a better person. - Devon Anderson An inspiration to young peopleThis memoir should be a "must read" in schools. It highlights how someone not only survives but thrives in adversity. It reminded me of books such as "Orphan Train", "The Kitchen House" and "Angela's Ashes". Great read; I couldn't put it down! - D.A. Tipton Excellent SeriesThis is an excellent series that gives a powerful message of how we can accomplish great things by working hard, having the will to achieve, despite any challenge that we may have. - Lynn Seppman
