Review :
Ancient weapons that still kill, dead cats that walk, dreams of dying, and out of body experiences; they are all here in Doug Dillon's Sliding Beneath the Surface shrouded in a cold fog of mystery. But there is more - much more. This is a frightening story about Jeff Golden, a self-pitying and rebellious teen-age boy who is being attacked by ghosts and deadly entities. What is happening? He reluctantly accepts help from Carla, a friend, and Lobo, a Native American Shaman with mystical powers. Together they work to uncover the truth and to keep Jeff from an imminent deadly threat. The fast-paced action quickly pushes the reader into the happenings - and the danger. As Jeff, and ultimately Carla, move between the present and a deadly event from the past where they both could be killed, Jeff finally comes of age. The setting - St Augustine Florida, the oldest city in the United States - is an inspired location for this heart thumping mystery. The old Spanish fort, the curling mists that exude from Matanzas bay, the old cemetery with the pyramids that burn, the historic buildings and the unwitting tourists that walk in and out of the tale, all provide just the right background for this marvelous story. I thoroughly enjoyed Sliding Beneath the Surface and predict the book will be a big seller. Charles R. "Chuck" Dowling Author: To Keep Our Honor Clean The Mad Dogs
