About the Author :
Steve North, the premiere comedy coach in Hollywood for more than thirty years, has coached thousands of comedy hopefuls-in workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions-and heads up two of the longest-running standup workshops in the Los Angeles area. He has appeared as Steve North the Comedy Coach on national television shows, at comedy festivals across the United States, in Judy Carter's Comedy Career in a Box DVD set, and he stars in the DVD Secrets of Comedy from Comedy Time. Associated with a wide range of comedians, from beginners to professionals like George Carlin, Leslie Jones, and Louis Black, he has also conducted many corporate seminars on comedy-both solo and with his comedy partner and wife, Barb North. The team of Barb and Steve North has performed live standup comedy at the Comedy Store, the Improv, the Ice House, and in nightclubs all over the world-including colleges and conventions. Besides performing on a multitude of television shows (Make Me Laugh, Thicke Of The Night, The Mike Douglas Show, and NBC Fantasy), the Norths worked as writers and producers on The Gong Show, America's Funniest Videos, Totally Hidden Video, Make Me Laugh, and many more. Review :
What They're All Saying . . . "When Steve coached me via phone and got my "Comedic Character," my act exploded. Grew faster in a month than in the last 10 years!" - Ellie Allen "Steve's coaching is the most brilliant comedy teaching and advice you will ever receive." - Love Machine "Amazing! Steve North is THE MAN. He teaches the whole package: creating the comedic character, writing, performing. I highly recommend him for comics of all levels and abilities." - Last Comic Standing Finalist "Wonderful. Steve North is simply the best comedy coach in the business and I should know, I've tried them all. The comedic character and the "blind spot" is the key to success in comedy. Five-star rating!" - Henrietta Komras "Best comedy coach in the business."- Carole Montgomery, Showtime "I just wanted to be funnier in life and business. A few phone coachings and simple comedy formulas later, I'm 300% funnier. Bottom line: I sell more exercise equipment, and also score more (wink-wink)." - Ben Avison "If I was an aspiring comedian, I would be grateful for this valuable gem. Kudos!" - Deborah Perdue "Fantastic! I'm now getting great road gigs. His character approach is key to being a successful stand-up comic." - Grace Fraga "Superb! Steve started me in standup by coaching me on the phone from home! I now perform in lots of comedy clubs and many events. I feel like he saved me years of time." - Jack McCallen
