About the Book

The world was once a jungle (that is, a land without borders), and it will finally one day again become a jungle.... Findings have shown that people who live in the jungle preciously preserve their cultural norms and values, and consequently live a better harmonious life - compare to people of the urban, where manipulation is the order of the day.... The author of this book was brought up in a society where culture is valued like a diamond: Yoruba land. It is a land where the proverb is seen as an everyday truism; perhaps, purposely to warn, to instruct and to admonish. However, the coming of Western culture and civilisation has greatly affected the originality of the people and the language (i.e. Yoruba). As Chinua Achebe would say: "Things are now (culturally) falling apart." Hence, for the poet to at least contribute his part in the preservation and beautification of African culture as a whole, he decided to pen Thoughts from the Jungle.

About the Author :
Mutiu Olawuyi (the inventor of 9/11 poetry, and the writer of a story without verb) is a Gambian-based Nigerian poet, educationist, creative writer, literary critic and activist. He is the founder of MUSE FOR WOMEN and POETRY ZONE groups online - where creative artists ink to say NO to violence against women, and criticize constructively literary/creative works of others respectively. Through these groups, he has succeeded in publishing (hardcover) four international anthologies on Gender Violence (2012 and 2013 editions), one on Universal Love and Peace (2014 edition), and one as Nelson Mandela Tributes (2014). As a humanitarian, Mutiu had once volunteered to contribute in alleviating computer illiteracy in Nigeria by initiating, managing, and serving as instructor - as a corps member in 2008 - for Computer Literacy and Empowerment Program (CLEP) at Achi, Enugu State. In 2009 he also volunteered as a Flag Cadet for Road Safety Club Oji-River Unit. He also organised the World Poetry Peace Poetathon program in The Gambia precisely on March 1st, 2014. As a creative pedagogical artist who believes in the power of the pen, Mutiu initiated Creative Writers' Clubs in both Nigeria and Gambia - to assist his students and other younger ones to identify and develop their individual creative talents. He also volunteered as a Gambian-based organizer of 100 Thousand Poets for Change in 2011. Mutiu has been an active campaigner for universal peace and harmony since he joined in 2012 World Poetry Canada and International and World Foundation for Peace in India. He has authored four books of poetry (i.e. American Literary Legends and Other Poems [2010], Thoughts from the Jungle [2012], 9/11 Poetry [2012], and The Journey to the Archangels [2013]), and has edited numerous international anthologies, journals and magazines. Mutiu also has some of his poems, short stories and research papers published in online and offline journals and magazines in India, Ireland, England, Canada, Greece, Nigeria and USA. Mutiu Olawuyi (popularly called the Jungle Poet) is an international award-winning poet - 2012 International Who's Who in Poetry Awardee, USA; 2013 World Poetry Empowered Poet Awardee, Canada, Honorary Professor - International Art Academy, Greece, 2014 World Poetry Cultural Ambassador, Canada and 2014/15 Marquis Who's Who in the World Listee, USA. Finally, some of his works have been translated to Arabic, French, Esperanto, Greek, Spanish, Yoruba, Telugu and Hungarian.
