SPUR award finalist Major Mitchell loves writing, singing and playing the guitar, but the real joys of his life are his family and his faith. He says spending time with his grandchildren is the most fun anyone could ever hope to have. He has always been active in his church and at one time was a pastor in Southern California.Although Major had spent many an hour and countless reams of paper as a child creating his own comic books (mostly westerns), it wasn't until he entered college that he began to think of writing as a serious pastime. I enjoyed this western. It's heroine is a strong woman living in South Dakota during the 1800's. As the book begins she has recently lost her husband and daughter. Left to run a cattle ranch and raise four sons, she learns to bury her grief in hard work. It's a gripping tale that takes the reader through both the good and bad of trying to survive in frontier life. It is filled with adventure. There are cattle rustlers threatening the area's ranches, a Native American tribe moving across the Dakotas, a stagecoach robbery, the mistreatment of a young woman, and ultimately, true love. This story depicts the evil in the wild west and the heroes who rise to fight it. If you enjoy a good western you don't want to miss this book- An Amazon Reader Just got through reading this fantastic book!! Was transported back to the 1800's from the first sentence to the last!
