About the Book

How does a healthy and concerned community respond to the call to save our children? With a literary "Hug of Love" entitled, Saving Ourselves: Ancient Wisdom Through the Mouths of Babes (Vol I Phase I) During the respite moments of summers between the years 2002-18, urgent calls to the virtual world went out by Professor C.S.Turnipseed, a former English teacher of the Los Angeles Unified School District and current professor of history at Mississippi Valley State University. Her message challenged all concerned to deal with the intolerable and unthinkable conditions that many children face on a daily basis in the inner city communities and schools of America. To Prof. Turnipseed's amazement of the thousands who responded the most remarkable were the reverberating messages from the youth of America. Hence, PHASE I From The Mouths of Babes--These writings bring clarity and resolve to the question, "What must we (the village) do to demonstrate love for each other and ultimately save one another and the planet?" The experiences of the youth culture today demonstrate a fundamental disconnect from previous generations; but, has also facilitated a deeper understanding of how a generation must save themselves. The young writers selected for this publication masterfully describes the challenge they face in dealing with the pain of disconnect and the joys of discovering their hopes of a promising future. Please enjoy their literary embrace of love!

Review :
THIS IS THE GREATEST PROJECT IN THE WHOLE WORLD! The Communication Initiative Network >> Upon receiving an email about Saving Ourselves, I immediately responded, in hopes of being a part of this project. It is such a poignant avenue to reach our people, who come ultimately from a heritage of spoken language - 'our' stories, insights and realities need to be conveyed in 'our' voice. Dr. Chrystal Evans, Hillsides Family Center >> This work is "right on time" and in line with the movement of the Universe. This is the "Coming Together" time and it's clear to me that you have not only seen the signs, but are being obedient to your calling. Thank you. Please know that there are many being awakened by your efforts. Peace be still, Earthy >> I am touched by your passion, your vision & love. I feel your project is blessed accordingly, by you & those in partnership with you, both the visible & the invisible. Yes - One God, One Aim, One Destiny! Ushanda >> We raised our children in a family way, each of us bring something different to the table and create an awareness in the children that each of us is responsible for ... all of them. Lisa "Chase" Patterson, CEO, Meridian Entertainment >> I love it... the real answer to our ills lie in the methods we choose to save our babies and ourselves! Love you, Monique Shaifer >> Thank you for "saving us!" What a MUCH needed Anthology. I praise and commend your efforts and your success with this project, as the ancestors and angels in Heaven are already doing so as well. Jaime D. Walker >> Children are our future. We need to protect them and cherish them... As a former caseworker for the City of New York, one of my children on my caseload who was 7 years old at that time said, "I don't expect to live to the age of 18." Think about it ... In peace and solidarity, Arlene Johnson, Publisher >> Thank you for the important work you are doing--we are proud of you. God bless you...and your associates. Peace, Zina >> This project sounds so good. I need this for my soul ... No haters here! Lena Lee >> Thank you for your wonderful words. Saving Ourselves is a very important piece of my life and many of the people that I know. You are doing a wonderful thing by giving us such an important premise to be a part of and or just read about. The Creator will bless you as the Ancestors are smiling upon you. Love & Struggle, Robin Asantewaa
