Full steam ahead with this fun, interactive consumable textbook that contains helpful instructions, artwork to color, and an easy-to-follow format! While learning about numbers, sets, number order, the calendar, shapes, addition and subtraction, measuring, time, and money, each page also presents enough activity to retain a student's attention. Each day your student will complete learning activities that integrate several learning skills in each session. By working sequentially through the entire textbook, your student will be able to master all of the required math skills that are mandated by state education departments. Each page contains a variety of activities, such as writing, counting, and coloring skills that are developed while your student learns to recognize and write the numbers 1-100, as well as their names. Next, your student moves on to exercises that include counting by 1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's. After mastering number recognition and counting, your student will continue on to learn about sets and number order. Number order will help your student with sequencing, as well as with what comes before, after, and in between. This skill leads to being able to discern which number is most or least in a group of numbers, as well as which numbers are the same or different. Ordinal numbers are also studied. Before too much of the year has passed, your student will learn about the calendar. These skills will include the names of each day of the week, the week, weeks in a month, the names of the months, a yearly calendar, and learning to read the calendar. Learning about shapes is also an important part of a student's math experience. Your student will learn to identify shapes by how they are constructed. He or she will learn how to count shapes, sort shapes, and write the words for shapes. In addition, there are plenty of opportunities to color and draw shapes throughout the textbook. Next, addition and subtraction are introduced. Addition work includes learning about the number line, addition problems, column addition, word problems, place value, and the addition table. Subtraction work includes the number line, subtraction problems, column subtraction, word problems, and the subtraction table. Measuring with an inch ruler is introduced with fun exercises combining measuring, adding, and spatial orientation. Additionally, fractions are introduced with exercises prepared in a step-by-step sequence to help your student learn the parts of a fraction as well as how to determine and construct a fraction. In this first grade level, your student will continue to learn about time on both standard and digital clocks. The study of time includes minutes, quarter hours, half hours, hours, and identification of time before and after a preselected time. Finally, your student will learn to recognize and know the value of our American monetary coins. Your student will increase his/her counting, sorting, and adding skills by working with this currency. Your student will consume this textbook with pleasure as the many pictures and activities delight the learning process and ease mastery.
