About the Book

A tribute to one of the best-known and best-loved singers of the 1950s, 1960, 1970s and beyond. His legendary recordings of Lucky Old Sun, Mule Train, Jezebel, I Believe, That's My Desire, Shine, Cry of the Wild Goose are all seasoned standards and all certified Gold. The Foreword is written by his friend Clint Eastwood, whom he met when they worked together on the television show Rawhide. The book is lined with a cornucopia of tributes from celebrities throughout the world that includes Tony Bennett, Jerry Vale, Rhonda Fleming, Julius La Rosa, Van Alexander, Mitch Miller, Ron Della Ciesa, Ann Jillian, Doris Day and many others. The book lists all Frankie Laine's recordings and activities as a film and television actor, and songwriter, besides listings of his great recordings including 23 Certified Gold. The book recalls Frankie Laine's early struggles, his life-long happy marriage to actress Nan Gray and her two children. Richard Grudens tells this story through his personal 25 year association with the giant, though gentle, performer. His career is traced from beginning to end when Frankie passed on at the age of 94.
