About the Book

Broken Dove, #2 in the DI Treloar series, has child abduction, stalking and murder, mostly set in West Cornwall in the UK but with breath-holding action in London and Amsterdam. Psychologically disturbing crimes are faced by Treloar and his team, with one team member in particular being more effected than most, for good reason. DI Treloar is Cornish, a bit of a maverick. Two children are kidnapped from a swimming pool near St Ives then he faces murder and stalking. In Broken Dove we get to know Treloar's family, especially his sisters, and more about his fascinating Spanish heritage which the family brings colourfully to life. Treloar's father, a Cornish man, got on a Brittany ferry boat in Plymouth one day in his youth, after a few beers, thinking he would go to France. He woke up in Santander in Northern Spain and the rest as we say...you'll have to read about!

About the Author :
When Broken Dove, second in the Treloar crime thriller series, won Best Adult Fiction at the prestigious 2017 Cornish literary award - known by some as 'The Cornish Bookers' L A Kent was delighted. It was especially pleasing because these awards are not only about good books, but about Cornwall. We do try to bring alive not only the sometimes fiendish and evil ways in which people behave but also the beautiful county we live in, and we're very pleased that the judges liked our approach to our books and thought we did just that! As one of the awards' judges put it: I just couldn't put it down, it was keeping me up to the early hours every night. I live in West Cornwall and I could really recognise my Cornwall ...... it was great to read a book set in Cornwall that didn't just throw out a few place names and descriptions A story crafting wordsmith met a psychologist and L A Kent was born. L A Kent is the pen name of Louise Harrington and Andy Sinden. Having lived in Cornwall for 20 years L A Kent writes not only about the dark, evil, obsessed, and sometimes plain mad and bad characters appearing on the dark side of their books, but also empathetically about the county, its people and their lifestyle. And bring to life Cornwall and the visitors that descend from the UK, mainland Europe and further afield, even as the villains put people to death. Prior to writing both travelled extensively in their corporate lives, spending time in the USA, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan and Singapore to name but a few, as well as frequently spending time in most Western European countries. They lived and worked in South Africa for two years, also visiting Namibia and Zimbabwe and bring these world experiences to the overseas episodes in the DI Treloar crime thrillers.

Review :
Review by klevergirl.USA, written on Amazon Silent Gull page. Written after reading Kindle edition of Silent Gull, DI Treloar crime thriller number 3. LOVE THIS SERIES (4 star rating) I have read all of this series so far and found each enjoyable. The main characters are fully fleshed out and I found them easy to like. The storylines are good and I am eagerly awaiting the next one. Winner of the Best Adult Fiction prize at the prestigeous Cornish Literary Awards, here is a sample of the awarding judges' feedback to the awarding committee: 'A gripping crime novel with the main story set in Cornwall, but with another narrative running with it. The two stories have different tones and seem worlds apart at the beginning, but they gradually come together making it a real page turner with the style of the second story conveying the unbalanced mind of the main character.' 'Among so many "murder mysteries" currently available Broken Dove has an original and entertaining plot. I found it easy to read, thought-provoking and enjoyable.' 'I enjoyed the story very much and felt like it was well paced, not overly long and the characters were well defined. I liked the use of different fonts/printing style to strengthen the story telling. I could quite happily read this book again in the future.' " I just couldn't put it down, I really wanted to know what happened next and it was keeping me up to the early hours every night. I live in West Cornwall and I could really recognise my Cornwall ...... it was great to read a book set in Cornwall that didn't just throw out a few place names and descriptions." 'This is the second in a series of novels about DI Treloar and the reader is gradually learning more about him and his colleagues and family. It will be interesting to read the third novel.' Professor P K Harvey, Chair of the Awards committee wrote 'I also read it after we had done the judging and congratulate you on a really original plot.'
