About the Book

In recent years, Spain has been racked with a number of high-profile planning related scandals involving leading town halls such as Marbella and Estepona. Deadly Secrets shows how some of the larger deals could have been done. The author of this fast-paced thriller has done a considerable amount of research into Spanish planning related corruption and money laundering scandals in writing this extremely convincing fictional account. The story centers around the sale of a large piece of land in Los Cipreses by a local businessman who bribes various local and regional government officials to ensure the re-classification of the land for use as a golf course and residential housing development. However, UDYCO, the organised crime unit of the Spanish national police have enlisted the help of Mike Cameron, a long-standing local ex-pat, to entrap him. When Mike Cameron is murdered, the prime suspects are his wife and her lover but it also seems possible that it may have something to do with the property transaction. An old friend of Mike's, Andy Montalvo, arrives in Los Cipreses to investigate his death. He soon finds himself drawn into the UDYCO investigation by the beautiful undercover special agent Cristina Ibanez. The body count rises as the action moves between Spain, London and the Cayman Islands and Andy and Cristina begin to unravel the truth behind Mike's death. "Robert Tenison's debut novel has everything you want in a thriller, very fast paced, loads of intrigue, hidden motivations, dark secrets, political conspiracy, deception. Kitty Sewell, best selling author of Ice Trap

About the Author :
Robert Tenison was born of Spanish parents in the UK and spent fifteen years as a commercial and investment banker, including a spell in the Cayman Islands. He has been living in southern Spain since 2002, originally working in the property and financial services sector. As a result, he has had numerous dealings with estate agents, property developers and banks and has an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter of Deadly Secrets. At the same time, he was advised by a number of professionals, such as lawyers and policemen, regarding some of the technicalities covered in the book.

Review :
"Robert Tenison's debut novel has everything you want in a thriller, very fast paced, loads of intrigue, hidden motivations, dark secrets, political conspiracy, deception. It offers a sympathetic (but not stereotypical) hero, a budding romance and an unusual setting, a small coastal town in Andalucia. A lot is written in the papers about corruption in Spanish property development, but Deadly Secrets will reveal the machinations of its players and offers a convincing depiction of how things can get out of hand. It's a case of truth rivalling fiction, as the author has obviously done some heavy duty research. Being a thriller fan, I was impressed, both by the language and the sophistication of style and was surprised to discover this was his first. I can't wait for the sequel. Hurry up, Mr. Tenison." Kitty Sewell, bestselling author of Ice Trap. "This is an unputdownable new crime thriller which vividly captures the essence of Andalucia in these troubled times. Read this novel; you won't be disappointed!" Irene Campbell, Delfin Books. "I was expecting the trashy style of Costa del Crime but a quick glance through was enough to reassure me that this is a well written novel on a totally different level so I bought it. No regrets. Deadly Secrets is an entertaining, well crafted story with real life characters, a highly believable plot and interesting twists and turns." Kerrie K (Amazon). "An unusually well written and researched thriller, fascinating story by an accomplished author who clearly knows about crime on the Costa's, I would highly recommend it - a real page turner" Marc H "I found it one of these books when you start reading it its hard to put down as you want to find out what happens next and there are others like that, I find that with some of Ian Rankin books so I would say a very good starter but when is the next one." JP, Singapore "From the first chapter I was lured into the intrigue and darkness that lurks beneath the sun and sangria of southern Spain. Having recently moved to the area I was touched by the succinct beauty of familiar settings. Deadly Secrets held me under the spell to the last page. An enthralling fast moving read - the pace matched the excitement." L.M Ireland.
