About the Book

Another Space in Time, Returns", works well as a standalone book even though it was envisaged as a sequel to "Another Space in Time" before the first book was finished. In this novel we continue to follow the fortunes of Rodwell Richards as he struggles to defeat the terrorists who all but destroyed him. Rodwell is settled and married in his second life, and is about to become a father as this story begins. Neither he, nor his wife, has yet any idea that Rodwell is going to be an almost immediately absent father. Rodwell is soon to replace his twin brother inside the local terrorist cell of the Vids, in an attempt to accumulate enough evidence to bring the criminal organisation down. Life on this other earth-like planet, Axa-Goranas, isn't so very different that we can't recognise its landscapes, and human technologies. In the State of Albion, where this story's events take place, the population even speak English. However, this is most certainly not the Earth and, for all anyone knows, this place may not even be in our Universe. Possibly we are in a parallel dimension that is only an arm's length from us or perhaps we are untold billions of miles away. We don't know. What we do know is that at least a fifth of the population have lived before, on our blue planet, and arrived on Goranas after dying prematurely. Rodwell struggles to survive, whilst doing right by both his new employer, the Loxley Police, and by his nearest and dearest. Are these responsibilities incompatible? At times it certainly seems so. This is a science fiction story, with many broad philosophical strands. The speculative framework allowed an abundance of believable and exciting drama, as well as providing plenty of tangential food for deeper thought.

About the Author :
I am presently active as an author of speculative fiction, which has grown out of my long time interest in philosophical science fiction. In the past I have produced English versions of historic plays, mostly those of the French neoclassical writer Jean Racine. These books "Alexander the Great"- 978-0-9562937-0-1 Esther and Athaliah"- 978-0-9562937-1-8 and "Suitors and Wasps"- 978-0-9562937-2-5 grew out of my desire to help my then English speaking children cope with the Swiss (francophone) education system. During previous episodes, I have worked in agriculture and briefly as a scientific research assistant. You can judge the success of those careers by their current absence from my life. I have the good fortune of being the father of three young adults. We are all maintained in our variedly successful attempts to stamp our mark on the world by the children's incredible mother, my hard working wife. We are very fortunate to live in the Swiss canton of Vaud, in the foothills of the Alps. After living in such a wonderful location it is hard to consider living anywhere else. By most people's standards I have had an easy life. I am not a natural writer, and certainly not a linguist. So what am I doing living an expat existence in a foreign speaking country, and to top it all writing books? Perhaps, it is being very dyslexic, which has perversely made me what I am. It has caused me to value the written word so much because it was for so long unintelligible barrier rather than an aid. I was eleven or twelve before I came to fully understand that the shape of the letters that formed my name also gave it its unique sound. Luckily, the skills of communication came reasonably fast once I had some building blocks established. I still can't distinguish subtle sound signatures in foreign languages, and struggle on the telephone even in English. Dyslexia affects individuals in many varied ways, in me this is both in the visualisation of letters and in the analysis of their sound. Why bring up this in a brief biography? Because it is my view of life through the fog of dyslexia that has made me into the story teller I am. In an indirect way my early alienation from those with normal linguistic skills has coloured my speculative writing. "Another Space in Time"- 978-0-9562937-3-2 and "Another Space in Time, Returns"- 978-0-9562937-8-7 owe nothing, apart from severe editing, to anyone other than me. The books are adventures in space/time that are structured around various everyman scientific and philosophical interpretations of where and why. Whilst less than profoundly expressed in the narrative adventure of the main characters struggle for survival, these ideas are designed to give scope to those who like to think about the parameters of life.
