About the Book

'You must be the change you wish to see in the world.' So Gandhi advised. Today, there's a growing movement of people who are standing up and taking action to create positive change. Be uplifted by the stories of 28 pioneers, social entrepreneurs, activists and campaigners working in many fields - including the media, education, health, peace, finance, business and the environment. In exclusive interviews, individuals working on all scales - from global and national to local and grassroots levels - tell us how and why they are bringing positive change. They share the challenges and the joys, and show that a brighter future is not only possible, it's already emerging. Read these accounts of dedication, innovation, determination and courage, and be inspired to know what anyone can achieve when they decide to be the change. Including: social justice and water rights advocate Maude Barlow; social entrepreneur Taddy Blecher; peace campaigners Scilla Elworthy and Gill Hicks; youth activist Craig Kielburger; holistic education pioneer Satish Kumar; Nobel Peace laureate Wangari Maathai; Fair Trade trailblazer Safia Minney; sustainable development leader Jonathon Porritt; radical environmentalist Vandana Shiva; civil rights lawyer Cliver Stafford Smith; global fundraiser and visionary Lynne Twist; and barrister/clown activist Jo Wilding.

About the Author :
Trenna Cormack's personal experience of being the change she wishes to see in the world encompasses working in the health and homelessness sectors, and teaching environmental and social justice seminars. After gaining editorial experience at Caduceus Journal, she took a leap. This book is the first fulfilment of a commitment she made at the Be The Change conference in 2005 to produce books that promote positive change.

Review :
"A collection of first hand accounts from the heroes of our time, ranging from peace campaigners, fair trade trailblazers, radical environmentalists and so on. The wonderful thing about these people is that they made the decision to 'be the change' in situations where they knew that change was the only hope. These are ordinary people like you or me who are now almost celebrities in the world of social change. An excellent read. - Lifescape magazine. The challenge and joy of being alive. Beware! This book is powerful. It's moving, thought-provoking and a calling to care more and be more. Be the Change is superbly put together and packed with contributions from 28 pioneers such as social entrepreneurs, peace campaigners, civil rights lawyers and sustainable development leaders. Probably one of the most powerful, inspiring books we've reviewed in years. Hugely recommended! - CommunitySoul www.communitysoul.co.uk"
