About the Author :
Sylvia Huntley-Moore is currently Director of Staff Education and Development in the School of Nursing and Midwifery Studies, Trinity College Dublin. From 1995-2002 she was the College's Staff Development Manager. Prior to that time, she worked in the Centre for Staff Development at the University of Wollongong, Australia, where her primary role was to manage the University's student evaluation programme with particular reference to associated staff development activities. Her current research interest is teaching development in research-led universities. John Panter was Head of the Centre for Staff Development at the University of Wollongong until his early retirement in 1998. He is a freelance educational consultant, and was Acting Staff Development Manager in Trinity College Dublin from November 2002 to August 2003. He began the process of establishing the All Ireland Society for Higher Education (AISHE) of which he was inaugural Vice-President. His current research interests include organisational development, evaluation of teaching and the initial professional development of newly appointed academic staff.
