Venda the strong robot is digging dino bones. His biggest problem is where to dig. Goody comes to his rescue. The story teaches children to stay on course, follow instructions and pursue goals without getting confused by what others tell them. The robots try to confuse Venda and he does get confused. Grenville Solomon works with a top tier US investment bank in London. Goody the Robot series was created by him for his own son. "I tried hard to find story books for my 4 year old son; which not only had entertaining characters but avoided violence, encouraged his love for reading, developed his emotional intelligence and left him with a good lesson. I could not find many books which had all the above. Either the characters were entertaining with no real story line or the story lines were interesting, but the characters were not empowering. If they were empowering, there was too much violence. I created Goody the Robot series for my son. Having lived in various parts of the world, the characters and story themes have a global flavour. In the present environment, global awareness and diversity is so important for our children. I deliberately used names and places from various parts of the world. Diversity leads to creativity." He believes that robots will be the next stage in technological development. The stories initially were created with on the spot ideas on each robot to get his 3 year old son interested in robots. One would think that stories about robots would contain a lot about space and technology fiction. Goody the Robot children's book series is different. The stories about these robots are more traditional moral style stories. Repeating each story again and again every night to his son, they took some real shape. Combining modern technological styled robotic characters with traditional style stories is a new concept. The robots love to eat good food-but not normal human food. They eat robotic food such as battery snacks, microchip burgers and steel sandwiches. Grenville has added rhymes and wit to make the stories attractive to younger children and to help language development. The re ommended age group is 4 to 8 years of age and boys will simply find them great. They will want to read again and again and will love the robotic characters.
