About the Book

Continuing Professional Development: Evaluation of Good Practice uses previous PARN research to develop criteria of good practice that can be used to evaluate CPD policies and programmes. It analyses the CPD schemes of four professional associations, to provide examples of how the evaluation criteria can be applied. The book offers conclusions and a set of recommendations for good practice. The book can be usefully employed by professional associations to facilitate self-reflection and evaluation of CPD policies and programmes. It can also be used as a tool for organisations that provide support and advice to professional associations. The research behind this book was funded by the Department for Education and Skills, and disseminated by the Professional Associations Research Network (PARN). PARN is a membership organisation dedicated to the support of good practice among professional bodies. It is based in the Management Research Centre at the University of Bristol.
