About the Book

A set of three official guide maps cover 350 miles of the Trans Pennine Trail (TPT), the country's first purpose built, national multi-user route. It runs coast to coast between the ports of Liverpool and Hull and the seaside resorts of Southport and Hornsea, crossing the Peak District National Park. Towns and cities across the North of England are connected including Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Chesterfield and York. Walkers and cyclists can use the whole Trail with horse riders too on many sections. Easy gradients and surfaced paths make much of the Trail suitable for people using wheelchairs or pushchairs. Lots of the TPT is traffic free providing a great facility for families. The Trail forms the English section of European Long Distance Footpath Number 8 (E8), a walking route from the west of Ireland right across Europe to reach Istanbul when E8 is eventually complete. The TPT also links into the National Cycle Network. Trans Pennine Trail Yorkshire and Derbyshire (Map 2 - Central) This second map shows the walkers', cyclists' and horse riders' routes on the central part of the TPT. On the coast to coast section of the trail it covers from the Eastern Pennines at the market town of Penistone through to the River Don Gorge and the town of Conisbrough. This map also includes the complete North - South section of the trail from the Leeds City Centre to Chesterfield.

Review :
"Explore town and countryside on foot, horse or bicycle using miles of waymarked trail across the North of England - much of it easy going and traffic free. The Trans Pennine Trail follows purpose built paths along disused railways, canals and riverside paths, bridlepaths and quiet roads. Much of the TPT is easily accessed from towns and cities from Liverpool to Hull."
