About the Author :
Bridget Dunseith was born in Belgium and spent her earliest years in Portugal. After moving to the United Kingdom she graduated with a Classics degree from the University of Reading, where she went on to get her Doctorate. A keen dancer, photographer and gardener, she has written a number of Classroom Resource books, and felt drawn to write about Jessie Chambers from a strong sense that the young woman who had inspired Lawrence to write had been misrepresented, not only by Lawrence himself but also by literary critics.

Review :
"Had it not been for Jessie, would DHL have written? Jessie Chambers, on whom Lawrence based Miriam in 'Sons and Lovers', saw his talent and was the first to encourage him to write. This biography maps the start of their relationship, its development and eventual rupture. Dunseith doesn't bog her swift narrative style down with annoying quotes from DHL biographers, but lets Jessie tell her tale from start to finish. Dunseith's voice is Jessie's voice, and we are left with the impression of a strong ahd magnanimous influence on DHL's life, whom he admitted using cruelly. This book will appeal to all those interested in the Lawrence debate, and throw light into corners most DHL biographers have systematically ignored. Well worth reading."
