About the Book

Most people are familiar with an image of St Michael and the Dragon. In this book, Christof-Andreas Lindenberg with words, and David Newbatt with images, explore other attributes of St Michael, in such a way that they reveal a twelve-fold balance of key noble qualities that the human being can strive for. Along with these virtues is also described, in contrast, the all too recognisable failings of human nature, which have to be recognised and understood before they can be overcome. Both the lecture by Christof-Andreas Lindenberg and the illustrations by David Newbatt, can be an invaluable source of inspiration for those who wish to research further into the questions of human nature, and to find ways in which to live, work and inwardly develop in relationship to each other.

Table of Contents:
Preface Lecture by Christof-Andreas Lindenberg 12 illustrations by David Newbatt, each with brief summary.

About the Author :
Christof-Andreas Lindenberg was born in 1932 in Berlin and grew up in Munich during the Nazi era with anthroposophic parents who opposed the regime. His father, a priest in The Christian Community, held a doctorate in Music, and Christof-Andreas enjoyed a musical upbringing, learning all the basics in a somewhat playful way. He began composing during early childhood and intended to study music, but he was encouraged to study special education with Karl Koenig, which became his life vocation within the Camphill community and eventually became a music therapist and instructor and co-founder of the Independent Music School in Europe. In 2001, he and his wife Norma, with two colleagues, founded the Dorian School of Music Therapy in North America, while also lecturing in Europe. Christof-Andreas has composed mainly choral settings for festivals and music for lyre and ensemble work. His published music includes two song books and articles on music therapy. David Newbatt is an artist and teacher who lives and works at a Camphill Community for young adults with special needs in Aberdeen, Scotland. He also teaches art at the Aberdeen Waldorf School. David works in a wide variety of mediums, mainly watercolors, pastels, and acrylics. He has illustrated various books, including a story by Novalis, the poem of Olaf Asteson, and Goethe's fairy tale. He is also a prolific mural painter. His works have been exhibited throughout Europe.
