About the Book

Mikey Mite is a bright young fellow and the fastest skater in his class--but that doesn't help him with his teacher, Mrs. Gesundheit. Mikey is such a terror in her class that he spends half his time in the Vice Principal's office. So when Mikey gets carrots for the school guinea pig on credit, Mrs. Gesundheit make it her business to catch him. Soon everone is school is calling Mikey a thief, and the big kids start to pick on him. When Mikey blames Mrs. Gesundheit for his problems, she kicks him out of her class. His new teacher Mrs. Lum, however, has a different way of teaching Mikey. Mikey Mite Goes to School is the story of a bright child from a troubled family, and of a teacher who recognizes his abilities.

Review :
...the large print and frequent cartoon-style illustrations make it suitable as an early novel. The silly names and Mikey's mischievous, clowning nature will appeal to kids. Recommended for readers who are just beginning to move into novels. Mikey Mite is a diminutive and delightfully difficult boy. The appeal of Mikey Mite lies largely in the enormity and outrageousness of his misdemeanors, which present all the paraphernalia of grade school from a zany perspective. The accommodating resolution deals with important issues of school adjustment, including coping with the regime of classes and tests.
