Review :
Cwyn yn gyntaf. Nain/Mam-gu (2010) 138 tudalen. Taid/Tad-cu dim ond 126 tudalen! Mae Nain, felly, yn cael mwy o ofod ac felly fwy o sylw, ac fel taid rwyf yn teimlo fod hyn yn annheg! Wedir gwyn, rhaid cydnabod bod yna degwch hefyd. Deuddeg portread a cherdd sydd yn y ddwy gyfrol ac y mae'n fargen am lai na chwe phunt. Mae cloriau Dorry Spikes, er yr un cynllun, yn wahanol eu cynnwys ac yn gloriau lliwgar, llawen sy'n gweddu i'r cynnwys i'r dim. Cyfrol am berthynas rhwng dwy genhedlaeth yw hon ac y maen adlewyrchur cyfoeth sydd yn y berthynas honno yn yr amrywiaeth o bortreadau o safbwynt cynnwys, arddull ar adnabod. Dim ond dau awdur sy'n ysgrifennu am deidiau na welsant erioed. Dewis ysgrifennu am ei hen daid (a fu farw pan oedd ei nain yn ddim ond 14 oed) a wnaeth Gruffudd Antur ac er bod ei bortread o Caradog ai gyfraniad mawr i ddiwylliant ei fro ai wlad yn ddifyr a diddorol, maer awdur yn cydnabod mai o ran y maen adnabod ac fe fyddair ysgrif yn gorwedd yn well mewn cyfrol am hen deidiau. Er nad adnabu Dafydd Emyr ei daid o gwbwl (ond y mae ganddo yr un blewyn strae ar ei ael) mae stori arwrol ei daid wedi ei wneud yr arwr mwyaf iw wyr hefyd. Mae yma dri phortread sydd yn deillio o un cyfarfyddiad neu un atgof. Pedair oed oedd Rhys Iorwerth pan welodd ei dad-cu am y tro olaf yn yr ysbyty, ond y mae'r atgof yn sail i ysgrif onest a chynnes. Cof plentyn pedair oed o'i dad-cu sydd gan Dafydd Iwan hefyd, ond yn wahanol i Rhys Iorwerth, y mae ganddo ef bortread o wr adnabyddus o dras enwog y Cilie. Sonia Gwyn Llewelyn am yr unig dro, ac yntau hefyd yn blentyn bach, iddo gyfarfod i daid, Tomi Tan Twr, er iddo'i weld rai bynyddoedd wedyn, ond heb sgwrsio ag ef. Mae dirgelwch gonest yn y portread hwn o gymeriad unigryw yr oedd pawb ond ei wyr ei hun yn ei adnabod. Maer portreadau eraill yn ffrwyth adnabod, gwerthfawrogi a charu, ac yn yr ysgrifau hyn mae cyfoeth y perthyn iw weld. Dyna a gawn gan Huw Chiswell (Tad-cu Phill), Gwyneth Glyn (Taid Criciath), Margarette Hughes (Tad-cu Cwerchyr), Dafydd James (Jack Saer) ac Aneirin Karadog (Jack Stockley). Maer ysgrifennu yn raenus a difyr ac y maer amrywiaeth o ran cefndir cymdeithasol a theuluol yn ddiddorol, yn gyfoethog, ac yn hwyliog iawn. Maer wyrion hyn yn ddigon hen i werthfawrogi a thrysori'r berthynas unigryw honno 'u teidiau, au dawn greadigol yn ddigon lliwgar iw mynegin gofiadwy. Mae cyfraniad Dewi Huw Owen ar ffurf Llythyr Dat-cu at ei wyr, Sin Bach, wedi ei ysgrifennun gelfydd mewn tafodiaith hyfryd. Ond ai tad-cu dychmygol yw hwn, ac ai cyfrinach rhyngddo ef ai wyr syn cael ei datgelu am y tro cyntaf yw testun yr ysgrif? Ar un olwg, nid portread yw hwn fel y gweddill yn y gyfrol. Eto mae yma ymddiriedaeth a chyfrinach sydd yn rhan o fywyd pob teulu. Portread plentyn un ar ddeg oed yw un Gwion Llwyd o Taid Lluest ac mae symlrwydd ei bortread ohonon hen ddyn direidus, efo bol fel balwn bron byrstio yn glo ardderchog i gyfrol werthfawr arall gan Wasg Gwynedd. Maer adolygiad hwn yn rhy hwyr ir farchnad Nadolig, ond mae pob taid yn cael pen-blwydd ac yn cael, gobeithio, seibiant i ddarllen pan na fydd yn diddorir wyrion neu'n eu cludo yn y car i wers neu glwb neu gerddorfa neu gm neu gapel ... Pryderi Llwyd Jones Gellir defnyddio'r adolygiad hwn at bwrpas hybu, ond gofynnir i chi gynnwys y gydnabyddiaeth ganlynol: Adolygiad oddi ar www.gwales.com, trwy ganiatd Cyngor Llyfrau Cymru.
