About the Book

A revelatory biography of Primal Scream, the baddest boys in rock This biography of Primal Scream, written by infamous rock journalist Kris Needs, tells the real story of a band who have carved a unique niche for themselves - through their continued pursuit of the ultimate rock 'n' roll lifestyle. Their special brand of chaos usually happens when they are on the road, and has been witnessed by the author, who has accompanied them on most of the major tours. He has incorporated his experiences with the band into fly-on-the-wall documentation for the book, resulting in much more than a conventional biography. The band's reputation often overshadows Primal Scream's raison d'etre - the music. However this book lays bare their musical influences, explaining the band's roots via exclusive interviews and detailed analysis of their albums. Primal Scream made one of the greatest, most influential albums of all time in 1991's Screamadelica, which refined the divides between rock and dance music. Throughout their subsequent career they've worked with legends including Funkadelic's George Clinton, Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant, and other rock associates like Liam Gallagher. All these and many more collaborators appear in this colourful history of the band, a one of a kind account which chronicles the music, myths and misbehaviour of Primal Scream.
