Senior Lecturer, Institute of Education, University of London Professor Sir William Taylor CBE was Director of the Institute of Education, University of London, from 1973 until 1983. Geoff Whitty was Director of the Institute of Education, University of London, 2000-2010. His main areas of teaching and research are the sociology of education, education policy and teacher education. He has led evaluations of major educational reforms in the UK, including the assisted places scheme, changes in initial teacher education and provision for pupil voice in schools.
